This Buccellati Macri cuff bracelet possesses the many beautiful features that made Buccellati jewellery world famous. Like the manual engraving technique in the gold that gives the bracelet a matte-glossy appearance. The technique was literally the signature of founder Mario Buccellati. It takes time, love and skill to achieve the desired effect: each line is engraved into the gold by hand, line by line.
In 1919, Buccellati started a small jewellery shop and workshop in Milan. This was followed by shops in Rome and Florence. Over the years, his work became known worldwide and in 1951 Mario Buccellati, together with Luca, one of his five sons, opened his first shop in New York. Three years later the next one followed, this time on Fifth Avenue. In 1979, another son, Gianmaria Buccellati, opened a Buccellati flagship in Paris, on Place Vendome. This confirmed its position as one of the most prestigious jewellers in the world.
In addition to Bonebakker Amsterdam being an official Buccellati dealer for the Netherlands, there is another commitment. Both we, Bonebakker jewellers and Buccellati may note a royal commission in our history. In 1840 the manufacturing of the crown for King William II is a proud moment in our own history.
Just over a century later, in 1949, Mario Buccellati was commissioned by the British Princess Margaret to make an icon to mark the first visit of a British royal to the Vatican City. The work is on display in the Chianciano Art Museum in Tuscany.
