That is because each piece is handmade with techniques characteristic of Italian jewelry craftsmanship. And anyone who has once felt Nanis jewelry on the skin will never forget the experience. Indeed, a distinguishing feature of Nanis jewelry is the velvety texture of the gold jewelry. This texture is achieved through an ancient Italian hand-engraving technique that has its origins in the Renaissance. Using a burin, Nanis artisans create indent by indent a unique, grooved surface that catches the light in a special way, which also results in a silky touch. The symbiosis between form and technique: Nanis Trasformista

Laura Bicego was born among jewelry. She grew up in a jewelry family with a rich history. Her father was a goldsmith and her younger brother Marco also chose the path of jewelry. In her father’s goldsmith studio, Laura developed a sense of aesthetics and technique at an early age. In 1990, together with her husband, engineer Piero Marangon, she founded Nanis with the mission of creating jewelry for confident, powerful women. Her credo: “Jewelry should mould itself to the woman, not the other way around.”
The symbiosis between Laura’s love of form and her husband’s technical ingenuity results time and again in jewelry with a very special transformative power. One of the most iconic Nanis designs is the award-winning Trasformista bracelet. The design completely changes shape with a single touch: from chic to casual or from bracelet to necklace. The striking, gourmet bracelet fits seamlessly into the current fashion scene and is a great statement piece. Yet the jewelry feels unprecedentedly soft. The miracle happens as soon as the clasp is undone because then the bracelet unwinds into a long chain with completely different links. The ultimate transformation.

Nanis – an ode to a precious moment

The choice of the name Nanis is incidentally based on a special, personal memory. Nanis are beautiful jewels for precious moments. In the summer of 1986, Laura Bicego and her husband Piero Marangon were in Haiti. A girl with sparkling eyes took them by the hand and showed them around, her name was Nanishka, and she lived alone in a sugarcane field. Touched by her strength, her smile and the light she seemed to radiate, the couple decided to name their brand Nanis, after that special girl and that precious moment.
